After choosing a template, you have full control over every design element in Resume Teacher’s editor. Every change you make is reflected instantly in the live preview.

Color customization

Resume Teacher gives you two ways to set your resume’s color scheme:
  • Basic color — Pick from preset color palettes that complement the template’s style. These are curated combinations that look professional out of the box.
  • Advanced color — Enter a custom hex value to set an exact color for accents, borders, and headers.
Choose a color that reflects your profession — blues and greys for corporate roles, greens for sustainability fields, and so on.

Typography

Change the font family and size for headings and body text independently. All available fonts are selected for readability in both print and digital formats, so your resume looks sharp whether a recruiter reads it on screen or prints it out.

Spacing and layout

Fine-tune the density of your resume to fit more content or add breathing room:
  • Adjust margins and line spacing to create a compact or more open feel.
  • Switch between single-column and two-column layouts where the template supports it.

Section order

Drag and drop sections in the editor to reorder them. Place your strongest section at the top — for example, put Skills before Work Experience if you’re changing careers and your transferable skills are your biggest selling point.

Profile photo

Some templates include a profile photo area. If yours does, you can upload a professional headshot cropped to a square. Keep in mind that many recruiters in the US prefer resumes without photos — check the norms for your industry and target market before adding one.
All customization changes are reflected instantly in the live preview. No need to save manually — your progress is auto-saved.
